Olmsted Falls beats Elyria 65-27 to take home SWC crown

The game started off sloppy on both sides as both teams struggled to put the ball in the hoop. The Pioneers would have a tougher time than the Bulldogs as Olmsted Falls would jump to a 10 to 0 lead thanks to their all-senior lineup to start.

Senior guard Lauren Noernberg put up a quick five points to start the game thanks to her quick jump shot. The Bulldogs would spread the ball out on offense and force turnovers on defense thanks to their full court zone press.

Elyria wouldn’t get there first points of the game until the end of the first quarter by Reginae Swanson. As the score of the first quarter would be 17-2 in favor of the Bulldogs.

The beautiful ball movement by the Bulldogs would continue to create offensive chances. This would give everyone a touch on the offense, over nine players in the Bulldogs offense would score in the first half proving that they don’t run through one player or unit.

Elyria would continue to get offensive chances thanks to the high effort of their players, they would work hard on the offensive boards and get open shots but failed to get the ball in the basketball.

Number 24 Davionna West would give her team a small energy boost as she came off the bench surging for a quick four points. Sadly, for her and the Pioneers that’s all the Bulldogs would allow them to have as the score would be 39 to six as we would head to the second half.

The second half would be more of the same for both squads as the Bulldogs would only increase their lead. Elyria would try to find a rhythm and hit a few shots, but their efforts would be just a bit too little and a bit too late.

In the fourth quarter we would see a scoring show from Jessalyn Sanders for the Pioneers as she would be battling with Noernberg and Mary Donnelly from the Bulldogs. Sanders would put up seven points in just to fourth quarter to lead her team in points.

The finale score was in favor of the Bulldogs 65-27 on senior night. The Bulldogs where also crowned the back to back to back to back SWC champions. The impact players of the game are Jessalyn Sanders for Elyria as she had seven points all in the fourth quarter. Seniors Katie Voisinet, Lauren Noerberg, and Mary Donnelly all scored 13 points as they combined for 39 of the teams 65.
