2nd Half
The glimmer of hope and tiny shift of momentum carried into the third quarter as Clifford and PSU looked solid on their first drive. Clifford found Jahan Dotson on a 14-yard reception TD to cut into the deficit and make it a one score game. (21-13)
The Buckeyes really slammed the door shut on their next drive with a huge 49-yard TD bomb from Fields to Olave. (28-13)
Ohio State tacked on three more after a long 12 play, 75-yard drive. This time walk-on kicker Dominic DiMaccio had the opportunity from the left hashes from 22 yards out. (31-13)
A monster drive from breakout receiver Dotson proved that he can play. Dotson worked Shaun Wade which is an extremely tough task. After a 37-yard juggling catch, Clifford went back to Dotson on the next play and Dotson pulled off a highlight one-handed snag. Dotson then was able to stroll into the end zone on the play, making the score 38-19 after a failed two-point conversion.
Ohio State scored their final points of the game with Field going back to Ruckert on a 4th and goal. Ruckert was wide open in the back corner of the endzone. With the 1-yard TD, the Buckeyes were comfortably set up to win with a 38-19 lead.
Penn State did score another touchdown on a 20-yard strike from Clifford to Dotson, but it was too little too late. (38-25)
I predicted Ohio State to put up 41 points, so I was likely the most disappointed person out there for the DiMaccio missed field goal at the end of regulation.
