2nd Half
The Buckeyes started with the ball in the third quarter and appeared to close out the game. Fields hit Wilson up the middle for a 9-yard touchdown giving the Buckeyes a 28-point advantage. (35-7)
The Hoosiers bounced right back with a Penix Jr. to Fryfogle 63-yard TD bomb. (35-14)
On the ensuing drive, Fields made a poor decision and threw his third interception of the game. Julian Fleming came up big for the Buckeyes though, running down Jamar Johnson and punching the ball out. Ohio State kept possession and then punted. Fleming’s hustle and wherewithal briefly killed a large swing of possible momentum for the Hoosiers.
Penix Jr. and the passing attack continued to take advantage of the porous OSU secondary with a Fryfogle 33-yard reception TD. (35-21)
The Buckeyes then failed on an opportunity to tack on three points. Jake Seibert’s 44-yard FG miss was quickly redeemed though by a Shaun Wade pick-six. Wade has struggled a bit transitioning to the outside corner spot, especially with a lack of preseason. He has not been the ball hawk Jeff Okudah was last season, but the big play could be the start to some better things to come. (42-21)
Indiana scored two more times before the end of the game. Penix Jr. hit a wide-open Ellis up the middle for a 16-yard TD (42-28) and then Fryfogle pulled in a monstrous grab over Wade, resulting in a 56-yard TD. (42-35)
Pete Werner and the defensive front seven closed out the game for the Buckeyes in crucial fashion. The third down sack of Penix Jr. forced a punt back to the Buckeyes. OSU was able to run the clock down prior to punting back to the Hoosiers, giving only 38 seconds of operation time.
A last-ditch lateral situation resulted in a fumble and ended an awful second half for the Buckeyes.
