First Half
The Ohio State defense had Indiana’s number from the beginning. Putting their offense in a great position to take an early lead. Fields and Garrett Wilson quickly took over on the first drive. In two plays they combined for 75 yards and a touchdown. The 10-yard TD strike made it 7-0.
The slow moving first quarter was filled with interceptions, fumbles and punts. It wasn’t until the second quarter when Indiana finally broke the lull in offensive action with a Penix Jr. 4-yard TD throw to Whop Philyor. That tied it up 7-7.
Ohio State finally woke up offensively behind the running game. Master Teague took over the ensuing drive and capped it off with a 41-yard run. (14-7)
Ryan Day and the offense went right back to the well with Teague. An eight play, 76-yard drive was capped off with another Teague touchdown. The 2-yard TD increased the Buckeye lead to 14. (21-7)
Indiana was pushing towards the endzone before Pete Werner and Baron Browning forced a David Ellis fumble. Browning recovered at the seven-yard line, forcing Ohio State to drive the length of the field with just over three minutes left.
Fields and the offense quickly moved 93 yards in just 9 plays and 2 minutes and 54 second. Fields felt pressure coming up the middle, spun away from the approaching defender and leapt into the endzone. The 9-yard TD run closed out the first half 28-7.
