Tom Allen is currently in his fourth season as head coach. His team is rallying and appears to have full buy in to his plan. They play hard and have been disciplined, which should be a major credit to the coaching staff.
Michael Penix Jr. has been slinging the football from the quarterback position this season. The redshirt sophomore is 91 for 150 with 1070 yards and 9 TDs. The lefty has thrown 3 interceptions though which is something to pay attention to Saturday.
Penix will need to have a huge game to pull off the upset and his top receiver Ty Fryfogle will need to find ways to get open for his QB. Fryfogle has 24 receptions for 424 yards and 4 TDs on the season.
Stevie Scott III is the workhorse at the running back position, racking up 319 yards and 5 TDs on 88 carries behind his offensive line. Expect Scott to get a bunch of touches again Saturday.
Junior linebacker Micah McFadden is leading the defense in tackles with 20 solo and 30 total. He will be crucial for the front seven against the Buckeyes offensive line in pass rush scenarios as well as against the run.
The defensive backs have also been tackling machines and have collectively forced several turnovers. Taiwan Mullen, Reese Taylor, Devon Matthews and Lamar Johnson must be at the top of their game against Ohio State’s weapons.
