1st Half
Clemson opens up with an eight play, 82-yard drive capped off with a Lawrence 2-yard TD scamper to the outside. Clemson starts with a 7-0 advantage.
After back-to-back punts, Ohio State strikes after the o-line opens up a big hole on the left side and Sermon takes it to the house for a 32-yard TD. (7-7)
Clemson scored again on the ensuing drive with a Travis Etienne 3-yard run. The touchdown made it 14-7 Tigers.
The Buckeyes only needed six plays to once again respond back. Fields threw a bullet to the left, finding Luke Farrell boxing out the smaller defender. The 8-yard TD knotted it up at 14.
Then the defense of Ohio State truly began to get in their rhythm and dominate. Clemson needed their own defense to step up, yet they could not do so.
A brilliant play call, throwing back across the field to a forgotten Jeremy Ruckert gave OSU the first lead of the game. That was a 17-yard TD from Fields to Ruckert. (21-14)
Following the injury to Fields, C.J. Stroud came on for one play and then Fields returned. He was in obvious pain. Despite struggling with his ribs, he rolled to the right and delivered a well-placed ball to Chris Olave for a 9-yard TD in the corner of the endzone. (28-14)
The Buckeyes capped off the first half with 28 unanswered points. The last touchdown was a laser from Fields through a tight window. The perfect through found Ruckert for a 12-yard TD and Clemson found themselves in a 21-point hole. (35-14)
