Ohio State Rolls Past Mount St. Mary’s 113-60

COLUMBUS, OH – The Ohio State Buckeyes out shot, out hustled and outscored the visiting Mount St. Mary Mountaineers in a 113-60 blowout tonight from Value City Arena.  They were led by John Mobley Jr with 26 while Devin Royal had 17 and Bruce Thorton had 14.  Chris Tilly had 12 points to go along with 5 rebounds.

Speaking of boards, Brandon Noel led the Buckeyes in glass cleaners with 7 as they out rebounded the visitors 36-20.  The Buckeyes also made the most of three-point range as they were an incredible 15 of 31 from long range for 45 of their 113 points.

Early three balls by Royal, Bynum and Mobley Jr paced the Buckeyes out to a quick 18-8 lead just 5 minutes into the action. The run was eventually snapped when Lipscomb drained from deep for the Mountaineers followed by a nice jump shot from Haigh.  The constant pressure combined with ball movement and incredible footwork by Mobley Jr, allowed the Buckeyes to push the lead out to 26-13 lead as the Buckeyes doubled them up with a little over 11 to play in the first.

A mini run by the Mountaineers cut the lead to 31-23 as they converted a few Buckeye turnovers into points with 7:24 to play in the opening half. Five straight points from a red-hot Bruce Thorton sparked another Buckeye run which allowed them close the half up 52-26 as they doubled up the Mountaineers.

The Buckeyes spread it around it nicely in the first with 6 different players hitting the score sheet.  Of those 6, 3 of them, (Tilly, Mobley Jr, Thorton) hit double digits. They nailed 7 from beyond the arc and outrebounded the Mountaineers 17-12 to build the lead.

Up 26 to start the second, it was only a matter of time before the starters would be pulled and the bench emptied for the Buckeyes. Before they could do that however, the Buckeyes built the lead to 63-31 just 120 seconds into the second half.  By the 4 minute mark into the second half, a Devin Royal three made it 68-31 Buckeyes, and it was all Ohio State from there as they rolled to the 113-60 victory.
