
Central Michigan will end its season, and Ohio will see its next opportunity in the MAC Tournament.
The Ohio Bobcats women’s basketball advanced to the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament with a 89-88 win over Central Michigan Chippewas women’s basketball in a quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday at Rocket Arena.
Ohio pulled ahead late in the fourth quarter and held off a final push from Central Michigan to secure the victory in a tightly contested game. The Bobcats executed down the stretch, converting key free throws and forcing defensive stops in the closing moments.
The teams traded momentum throughout the game. Ohio started quickly on the offensive end, building an early lead behind efficient shooting in the first quarter. Central Michigan responded in the second period, using a balanced scoring attack to keep the game close heading into halftime.
Both teams continued to exchange runs in the second half. Central Michigan briefly took the lead in the third quarter, but Ohio answered with timely baskets and strong rebounding to go back right on top.
In the final minutes, the Bobcats maintained their composure as Central Michigan attempted to rally. Ohio’s defense limited scoring opportunities late, allowing the Bobcats to hold on for the one-point win.
With the victory, Ohio advances to the MAC tournament semifinals as they push for the NACC Tournament. Meanwhile, Central Michigan’s season will come to an end with this quarterfinal loss.
