Ohio Bobcat Shereef Mitchell led all scorers with 15 as they defeated the Western Michigan Broncos soundly tonight 82-55 to advance to the Semi Finals versus Akron tomorrow night from Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. The Bobcats took the lead 1:37 into the game and never looked back from there as they cruised to victory. They used a big first half to take a 35- 22 lead into the break and the Bronco’s had no answers.
Also scorching the nets for the Bobcats tonight was Myles Brown and Jalen Smith who had 13 each to go along with the 15 from Mitchell. The Bobcats were efficient as they shot 9 of 29 from long distance, but made hay at the line, sinking 11 of 16. The Bobcats controlled the tempo with defense however, as they held the Bronco’s to 19 of 58 shooting, and kept them at bay all night.
With rebounds and fouls both relatively even, it was hustle points for Ohio that got it done. They had 29 points off turnovers and 42 coming from the paint. It is hard to beat a team doing those things well! The Bobcats also had 24 fast break points and 25 off the bench. The Bronco’s had nothing to combat all of that with.
