NXT Takeover Vengeance Roundup & Reaction

NXT Takeover Vengeance was tonight from the Capitol Center and our breakdown is brought to you by these fine sponsors. https://keeonsports.podbean.com/e/pro-wrestling-sponsors/

Match – Io Sharia defends her Women’s Championship vs Toni Storm & Mercedes Martinez

Result– Io Sharia retains

Take Away – Both Martinez and Storm made a good account for themselves, but the big picture remains a Xi Lee vs Io Sharia showdown in the near future.  This was nothing more than a holdover match.

Match – Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez vs Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart for the Dusty Cup

Result – Dakota Kai & Raquel Gonzalez win by pinfall

Takeaway – This was great, a solid 25-minute match that delivered and kept you guessing.  In the end Kai & Gonzalez proved to be too much. While Moon and Blackheart appeared to be two mildly popular women paired together, Gonzalez and Kai come off as a legit tag team.  Smart booking and I’m very excited to see where this goes next.

Match – MSK vs Grizzled Young Veterans for the Dusty Cup

Result – MSK by pinfall

Takeaway – Interesting that they went with MSK here, but after Heels won the first two matches, I had a hunch they would go this way.  I still like the Grizzled Young Veterans however and look forward to more from them. MSK proved tonight however that they are the real deal.

Match – Johnny Gargano defends his NA Championship versus Kushida

Result – Gargano retains his title by pinfall.

Takeaway – WOW!!! Match of the year candidate already. Gargano looked finished with the arm bar multiple times but battled back.  I thought it was very interesting that Gargano got the clean pin fall too, he deserved it and needed the high-quality win!

Match – NXT World Championship Finn Balor defends against Pete Dunne

Result – Balor retains by pinfall

Takeaway – The big story to come out of this one was not the match, that was decent, but the post match.  After the Undisputed Era rescued Balor from a post-match beatdown, Adam Cole proceeded to super kick Balor and then his fellow UE member as well. It was fun while it lasted, but UE is done.
