NXT Stand & Deliver 2024 Report Card

WWE 2024 HOF Report Card

The biggest card in NXT 2.0 History was held this afternoon in front of 16,545 fans at the Wells Fargo Center, in Philly.  It is always great to see these young men and woman get a chance to shine on the national stage during the biggest weekend of the year. Let’s hand out the grades from todays NXT Stand and Deliver 2024 card.

Joe Gacy defeats Shawn Spears on the preshow

Grade – D

A terrible match as Gacy was overcoming a pre-match beatdown from Ridge Holland who “retired” only a week ago.  This entire angle is awkward and just feels off.  Spears is now 1-2 since his return to NXT, and when you cannot beat a guy who just got destroyed by a chair, it doesn’t speak much for you.

Wolf Dogs defeat Axiom and Nathan Frazier

Grade – B

The Wolf Dogs are great!  This was a smart move to keep the straps on them.  Not sure how Axiom and Frazier were chosen for this title shot in the first place, it doesn’t speak much for the NXT Tag division right now.  Despite that, the Wolf Dogs delivered, and I would expect Baron Corbin and Bronn Breakker to be sticking around NXT for a bit longer, despite anything Bronn is currently doing on Smackdown.

Oba Femi defeated both Dijak and Josh Briggs to retain the United States Championship

Grade – A

This outstanding match is an early favorite for match of the weekend. WOW!  All three guys delivered and it was a coming out party for Josh Briggs who looked amazing and cemented his place in the singles division.  I’m a bit surprised they kept the belt on Oba Femi, but it will be more than interesting to see where they go from here with him.

Thea Hail, Fallon Henley Kelani Jordan defeated Jacy Jayne, Kiana James and Izzi Dame

Grade – C

It was your basic feel-good moment of WrestleMania weekend as the “Good Girls” defeated the “Bad Girls”.  Okay, moving on….

After this match G, Ava announced the Women’s North American Championship tournament will now be held. This is a great idea to help with the overflowing NXT Womens roster that currently only had 1 total title to speak of.

Roxanne Perez defeats Lyra Valkyria to regain the NXT Women’s World Championship

Grade – B

Good for her!  She never lost it a year ago to begin with, and this is a great move to put it back the most popular and now hated woman in NXT.  I would love to see a long title reign until Cora Jade comes back, and they tear it down one more time! Valkyria needs to be on the main roster soon!

Afterwards, HHH made it official that Giulia, formerly of Stardom, is now a part of the NXT Women’s roster.

Ilja Dragunov defeated Tony D’Angelo to retain the NXT World Championship.

Grade – C

Again, I like D’Angelo and he has come a long way since beginning with NXT 2.0 in 2021, however, I’m not exactly sure how he ended up in this spot to begin with. If they keep him a “gimmick”, no one is going to buy him as world champion.

Ilja Dragunov looked great and sold the injured fingers well, but at this point in the show, the crowd was already looking past this to the main event.  Anytime the World Championship is not the main event, that is exactly what will happen.

Trick Williams defeats Carmelo Hayes

Grade – C

99% of the match was Hayes completely dominating Williams.  I understand you need to have a fiery comeback for the babyface to eventually shine, but this was nothing of the sort.  He got his ass kicked by a guy half his size, and then pulled off a fluke move at the end to win.  I don’t know, I think they blew this….
