NXT No Mercy is in the books for 2025 and here are our Hot Takes from the event.
Je’Von Evans defeated Josh Briggs to start the show.
Take – Je’Von Evans continues to tear down the house with anyone you place him in the ring with. At 21 years old, he has full potential to be a WWE WrestleMania headliner one day.
Jordynne Grace defeats Blake Monroe in a Steel Cagé mage with weapons.
Take – It was pretty good and the pink chair was a nice touch. It showed some toughness from Monroe as well. In the end, Grace reminds me of a less appealing version of Nattie Neidhart, not sure of the appeal, if any when it comes to her. Again, a battle of a match that was very entertaining.
Ethan Page retains his NXT North American Championship over Tavion Heights
Take – Heights made it close for awhile, but I don’t think anyone truly thought he had a chance at taking the gold off of Ethan Page. A challenge from AAA Champion Latin American Champion El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. was a bit of a left turn however.
Jacy Jayne retained her NXT Women’s Championship over Lola Vice
Take – This one shocked me quite honestly. Vice had been red hot and was in her hometown, if they were going to finally take the title off Jayne, now was the time. The drop off between Jayne on the headliners in the women department of WWE are light years apart.
Think about Rhea Ripley, Io Sky, Bayley, Tiffany Stratton, Bianca Belair, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and compare that to what NXT is running out there and it is not even remotely close. Much like AEW, NXT uses sex appeal with their women to make up for in ring precision.
Ricky Saints defeats Oba Femi to win the NXT World Championship
Take – I was not a Ricky Starks fan and I’m even less of a Ricky Saints fan. This just shows his best friendship with Cody Rhodes paid off. Also, they will now have a babyface champion in the war against TNA which is a good idea.
