North Ridgeville traveled to Amherst today where they defeated the Comets 62-39 in SWC action. The Rangers are a dangerous team, but when you motivate them even further, it could be a giant mistake because this team becomes deadly when you give them a reason to be. The Rangers went off in the second quarter and never looked back in a dominant display.
Grace Kingery, who has been on a tear like no other, kept it up today with 36 more points, including 24 from long range, 6 from the foul line, and 6 via regular field goals to lead all scorers. The suddenly red-hot Maddie Eldridge had 9 more, while the sharpshooting Reyna Balderas poured in 5, as did Brooke Lime.
When it comes to Lime, she just continues to be the total package of a solid ball handler, who can find the open teammate, but also drive the lane when she sees it. This all compliments her defense as well as she shown twice this week alone, how she can shut down one of the SWC’s top scorers.
The Comets were led by Kristen Kelley with 18 while Bradyn Silvacy had 6. Both Kayla Ferancy and Ava Darmos had 5 each, while Anna Phelan scored 3 and Natalie “The Nazz” Pleban scored 2.
North Ridgeville did their damage from the lines in the first quarter, as Kingery and Eldridge combined for all 13 points for the Rangers. 12 came from the three-point line, 6 each from the duo, and Grace also drained a foul shot to spark the Rangers to the 13-8 leader after one. You knew it was going to be a big day for Kingery as she drained a 3, just 27 seconds into the action.
North Ridgeville is playing their best basketball of the year, and the second quarter proved that today with utter dominance from beyond the three-point ark. It was a 27-point explosion, complete with 18 of those points coming from long range. The absolute barrage started with a Balderas jumper from the foul line to get them cooking, extending the lead to 15-7. Moments later a Kingery three from the far corner, lit the fuse.
As Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing” cranked from the loud speaker, the Rangers sang a tune of “Don’t Stop Draining Shots” and proceeded to roll on. A Kingery “and one” made it 21-9 Rangers a few moments later. Brooke Lime took one from the top of the ark, hitting it for the 24-9 Ranger lead. Shortly after, it was Lime again on a drive, using the Kingery high screen to nail an underhand layup. The next time down the court, following a Kelley bucket, Kingery hit one from South Euclid, extending the lead to 29-11.
Ava Darmos is an absolute baller, and did her best to keep Amherst in it, with a great spin around move to score, but it was all North Ridgeville from there. Up 29-13, with 3:13 to go, Kingery played a round of monkey see, monkey do with her own underhanded layup and it was 31-13. Kelley then drained a three ball for the Comets, which only added more fuel to the fire for North Ridgeville who finished the quarter on a 9 -0 run. The 9 points coming from Kingery and Balderas, all from deep! This gave the Rangers a 40-16 halftime lead, in which they had zero issues hanging on for the 62-39 win.

I tip my hat to the Lady Rangers , they have a nice team and hands down one of the best players in the state . Good luck the rest of the way. My heart breaks for these young ladies our coach should of stuck with the boys . The lady next to me said he has never beaten North Ridgeville since he came back to coach the girls . I hope big changes happen after the season this program is in shambles!
