Kenneth Currie

On Friday, 9/10/21 the Amherst Steele Comets(0-3) visited their southern conference rival the North Ridgeville Rangers(2-1), as they both competed in conference play for the first time this season.

The game started pretty even 14-7 at the end of the first quarter. A 1 yard run by Ranger senior Dom Farago and 23 yard touchdown pass from Jacob Madis to duel threat Kosta Thrasivoulou put the Rangers in front.

By halftime the Rangers opened their lead to 33 – 14. Fargo had 3 Touchdowns at half while Madis and Thraisvoulou connected for another touchdown to make it 2 for the game.

Amherst Steele Quarterback Christian Heckman was giving maximum effort and his running mate Torre Weatherspoon was right there with him, doing everything they could to stay in the game. Weather it was running and throwing for Heckman or running and catching for Weatherspoon.

They both were doing everything they could. With North Ridgeville going for it on most 4th downs , it gave Amherst a chance to comeback, Amherst had a chance to come back but they just couldn’t really get a rhythm and couldn’t convert on some crucial 4th down attempts.

Heckman finished the game with 145 passing yard and 1TD and 58 rushing yards with another touchdown. Weatherspoon finished with 63 rushing and a touchdown with 83 receiving yards. Weatherspoon also had a 40 yard touchdown run come back from a holding penalty and added a interception.

North Ridgeville demonstrated the talent they have in there 3 stud seniors in Madis, Thraisvoulou, and Farago. They played together and were able to execute there game plan to a tee. The final score was 39-21 with Fargo finishing with 132 yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground.

The Rangers can be dangerous if they are able to keep this winning streak alive, this team can be a issue later on in the season.

The player of the game is Dom Farago with 132 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns.
