It has been a magical three year run that has continued into year four for the North Ridgeville Rangers football program. Since they defeated North Olmsted 34-21 to kickoff the 2022 season, they have slowly but surely build themselves into a serious force in the SWC. It has been a three plus year climb that many believe have them in prime position to challenge for the SWC title this year. They won 5 games in 2022, improved to 8 wins in 2023 and then a school record 9 wins, including a playoff win in 2024.
Coach Bryan Morgan has built a solid program in this time with various reasons for the success. However, perhaps none bigger then their senior tailback Zack Barnhart. I mentioned the North Olmsted game because that was Barnhart’s first, as a freshmen as he made an impact that evening with with 109 yards on 28 carries and 2 TD’s as a freshman. He has only gotten better as he enters his senior year as one of the best backs in the state.
In two games thus far this season, Barnhart already has 192 rushing yards on just 22 carries for an insane average of 8.7 yards a tote with 4 touchdowns. This has helped lead the Rangers to big wins over North Olmsted 41-0 and Valley Forge 37-12 for a two game point total of 78- 12.
In three seasons the only thing North Ridgeville hasn’t done is defeat Avon, but to their credit, no one in the SWC has in those same three years. They will get another crack it at Week 4 as they host the Eagles. This coming week, the Rangers travel to beautiful North Royalton to take on the Bears.
