It was a successful senior night for North Ridgeville as they defeated Lorain County SWC Rival Elyria 65-51 at home tonight in front of a packed and emotional crowd. The six seniors being honored this year for North Ridgeville were Maddie Eldridge, Brook Lime, Grace Kingery, Kailey Schulz, Olivia Poltorek and Adrianna Brown. This is a senior laden team that competed for a District Championship back in 20-21 when Kingery, Schulz, Lime and Eldridge were freshmen. They look to go back to that game this year and beyond. A truly special bunch!
The Rangers were led by Gracey Kingery who is closing in on 2,000 career points with another 24 points tonight in this one. Fellow seniors Brooke Lime had 13 while Eldridge scored 6 and Kailey Schulz finished with 8. For Shulz, all 8 points came in the opening quarter that saw North Ridgeville jump out to a 22-15 lead after one.
Reyna Balderas buried two from long range for six points on the night, while CC Bauman scored 2 points and Olivia Poltorek had 4 and Gabby Thibodeaux had 2. For anyone out there who wants to be stubborn and idiotically believe that North Ridgeville is just a one player team, go ahead and continue to make that completely and utterly asinine mistake. Brook Lime and Maddie Eldridge are starting to play the best basketball of their Ranger careers, while Reyna Balderas has shown she can explode for points in an instant when left open from deep.
Elyria showed a ton of spark tonight and kept it close in the first half for long stretches. The Pioneers were led by Hayi Hendrix with 16 and Sirriaj Drummer with 14. KaMariana Scott had 9 while Khloie Troutman finished with 6 and Ava Wahn four.
The Rangers travel to Midview this coming Wednesday while the Pioneers to Avon Lake that same night.
