Last year Week Five featured 4-0 Avon vs 4-0 North Ridgeville in front of a packed house in Ridgeville. The game got off to an intense start and it looked early on that the Rangers had a solid chance to pull off the upset. They were tied 7-7 early into the second quarter after a punt was blocked for a Ranger touchdown. It went downhill from there as starting quarterback Cole Miller got hurt and the Avon Eagles went on to score the next 31 straight points. Things were never the same.

However, here we go again, year 2, round 2 as both teams return to this game at 4-0 and North Ridgeville is better then ever. They have a healthy Zach Barnhart toting the rock along Tavion Swain and Charlie Steinmetz. Their defense led by Austin DeShazo is stronger then ever as well. Miller is back and slinging the rock with ease. If North Ridgeville ever had a chance to take over the SWC for one glorious and magical year, it is right now!
HOWEVER, there is one giant challenge standing in front of them again in the Avon Eagles. After an incredible 3 game out of conference schedule with victories over St. Ignatius, McKinley and Glenville, they returned to conference play with a dominant 58-0 win over Elyria.
Avon has their high-flying offense as potent as ever with Nolan Good running the show to find wide open Matt Maxey and the speed demon Cole Kepner open downfield. They had a slight hitch running the ball but seemingly got over that last week with an impressive showing versus Elyria when they put up nearly 200 yards on the ground and scored three rushing touchdowns. The Eagle defense is also as strong as ever with Stolarski looking like he cannot be stopped!
This is going to be a memorable matchup and we look forward to bringing you full coverage of it once again with zero cost.
