North Olmsted Homecoming Festivities Cancelled For 2025

Per the below release from Ken Neuzil of the North Olmsted Community Council:

Dear North Olmsted Friends and Neighbors,

The Board of the North Olmsted Community Council made the very difficult decision last evening to cancel this year’s Homecoming festivities. With the park under construction, we had worked and planned to hold the event at Great Northern Mall in the field and parking lot south of Applebee’s. We worked with city officials and mall management to make this a reality, but last week we were informed that the rides company we were counting on decided they could not schedule us and then, also late last week, one of our major vendors informed us that they were cancelling, as well. The logistical problems of water, electricity, bathroom facilities, security, and public safety were achievable, but without the rides and this major vendor, we felt it best not to go forward.

To keep the spirit of Homecoming alive, we are still planning to continue the Taste of North Olmsted at a different site. We will keep you informed about this wonderful event as we get the details. The city has planned for the annual fireworks display on Saturday August 23rd and Community Council plans to be a part of that event.
Throughout this entire process, the officials of the North Olmsted government and the Parks and Recreation Department have been very helpful and cooperative and we thank them for that. Also, the management of Great Northern Mall has been an enthusiastic partner and we thank them, as well.

Midway Co-chairs, Tom Herbster and Jeff Peepers have devoted many, many hours in developing plans for Homecoming 2025. We owe both men a huge Thank You for their efforts. Cancelling Homecoming this year is especially difficult for these two outstanding community leaders.

Homecoming is down, but not out. We are looking forward to summer 2026 when we can return to the newly renovated North Olmsted Park and, once again, enjoy all the activities and events of North Olmsted’s Homecoming.
Best regards,

Ken Neuzil
President North Olmsted Community Council
