Tonight, in North Olmsted, it was a clash for GLC Boys Soccer supremacy as the Eagles hosted the highly ranked Bay Village Rockets. Goals were not easy to come bY, in fact, there was only one. When Gael Briones found the back of the net in the second half, it would prove to enough for the Eagles to capture the 1-0 victory.
The Rockets came in ranked second in Division II, while the Eagles were nothing to sneeze at either with an impressive 10-2 record. Goalkeeper Gannon Graf kept the Rockets at bay all night as he turned back all 3 shots on frame. The Eagles didn’t get many chances themselves, settling for only 4 shots on frame.
It was a feisty game with plenty of emotion and aggression that saw several yellow cards be dealt out. The Eagles had 6 corner kicks while holding the Rockets to only 3. There is no doubt these two teams will clash again.
The girls varsity team traveled to Bay Village tonight where the results were not nearly as pretty. It was a rough night for the Lady Eagles as they were defeated 8-0. The Lady Rockets were fueled by a Tessa Knapp hat trick in that one.
Elsewhere in the area for girls soccer tonight, Strongsville defeated Brunswick 2-0 while Rocky River took out Westlake 2-0 as well.
