North Olmsted Varsity Eagles got out to a four-run lead in the fifth inning and held on for a 4-3 victory over Lutheran West Varsity Longhorns on Thursday. Lutheran West Varsity Longhorns scored three runs in the failed comeback on a single by Flachbart, a single by Robinson, and a walk by Keller.
Lutheran West Varsity Longhorns scored three runs in the sixth inning, but North Olmsted Varsity Eagles still managed to pull out the victory. Flachbart, Robinson, and Keller each drove in runs during the inning.
Gannon Graf was the winning pitcher for North Olmsted Varsity Eagles. The righty went five and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out four. John Schlegel threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Rockas took the loss for Lutheran West Varsity Longhorns. The pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out three and walking one.
North Olmsted Varsity Eagles tallied seven hits in the game. David Chalkwater and Alex DeJesus each collected multiple hits for North Olmsted Varsity Eagles. DeJesus and Chalkwater each collected two hits to lead North Olmsted Varsity Eagles.
North Olmsted Varsity Eagles was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. DeJesus had the most chances in the field with seven. Chalkwater led North Olmsted Varsity Eagles with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with five stolen bases.
