North Olmsted Varsity Eagles fell to Rocky River 10-9 on Tuesday on the final play of the game. Rocky River trailed 9-8 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Obrien singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.
North Olmsted Varsity Eagles trailed by five runs in the second inning, but then fought back to lower the final margin. North Olmsted Varsity Eagles put up eight runs in the failed comeback. Gannon Graf, Darren Krider, Graf, Joey Wengstrom, Alex Meyer, and David Chalkwater powered the rally with RBIs. Rocky River captured the lead in the second inning when Spies drew a walk, scoring one run. North Olmsted Varsity Eagles evened things up at six in the top of the fifth inning when Meyer grounded out, scoring one run. North Olmsted Varsity Eagles tallied six runs in the fifth inning. North Olmsted Varsity Eagles’s offense in the inning came from singles by Graf and Alex DeJesus, groundouts by Wengstrom and Meyer, a walk by Chalkwater, and by Dominic Costello. Rocky River scored six runs in the second inning. Rocky River big bats were led by Ferchill, Spies, Rossi, Obrien, and Brown, who all drove in runs. Obrien was on the mound for Rocky River. The ace surrendered six runs on five hits over four innings, striking out one. Graf started the game for North Olmsted Varsity Eagles. The righthander surrendered six runs on four hits over two and a third innings, striking out five. Meyer threw four and a third innings out of the bullpen. North Olmsted Varsity Eagles tallied six hits in the game. Chalkwater and Graf all managed multiple hits for North Olmsted Varsity Eagles. Graf and Chalkwater all had two hits to lead North Olmsted Varsity Eagles. |
