Ball State was led by Bree Salenbien, who poured in a game-high 34 points on 13-of-20 shooting, including four 3-pointers. Karsyn Norman added 14 points and eight assists, and Tessa Towers pulled down 11 rebounds.
The Cardinals shot 40% from the field and hit seven 3-pointer but struggled to slow Anugba and the Rockets late as Toledo maintained its narrow lead down the stretch.
