Central Michigan marched into Happy Valley with upset on their mind, as they challenge the unbeaten No. 14 team in the nation Penn State Nittany Lions. This was a task that Ohio failed to play up to a few weeks ago as the Nittany Lions blew past the Bobcats.

Central Michigan bounced back after a tough South Alabama loss in week two with a win over Bucknell in week three. The Chips feel they have their swagger back and look to make 100,000 fans go quite in happy valley.

Early on this would not be the case. Penn State had no problem shutting down the Chips offense on their first possession. A few good plays by the Chips were not enough to stop the freight train that is the Penn State offense. Clifford connected with Mitchell Tinsley for a quick five-yard touchdown pass to make the lead 7-0.

Penn State stacked their points with another touchdown after a defensive stop. Clifford completed another touchdown pass this time to Brenton Strange to give PSU a 14-0 lead. Traditionally this would be a game that Penn State could run away with. That wouldn’t happen in the first half thanks to the tremendous effort by the Chippewas.

Daniel Richardson showed hints of greatness for the Chips with back-to-back touchdown possessions to tie the ball game up. Richardson showed great patience and skill as he weaved in and out of the pocket waiting for his receivers to get open. Touchdowns to Joel Wilson and Finn Hogan tied the ball game at 14-14.

Penn State scored one last time before half to regain the lead as they would get the ball back to start the third quarter. A rush from Kaytron Allen from 14 yards extended the lead with under two minutes left in the half.

The Central Michigan defense stopped Penn State to stop the half. On the punt return the ball was fumbled and recovered in the Chips own redzone. Penn State jumped on this chance and punched in another touchdown as Clifford completed another pass to Strange to increase their lead by another Touchdown 27-14.
The Chips have been down by 14 before in this game and knew they could respond right back with a touchdown. The entire stadium thought they scored a touchdown until a flag was spotted on the goal line. This moved Central Michigan all the way back to a third and 30 situations. They got back to the goal line but failed to score. Penn State ran away with the game after this as they dominated the game on all aspects.

The Chips had a chance in the fourth quarter, but a flag was thrown on a touchdown play. This was followed by a fumble giving the Nittany Lions the ball. As Drew Allar entered the game they milked the clock to almost three minutes ruining the plans the Chippewas.

The final score was 33-14 in favor of the Penn State Nittany Lions as Central Michigan failed to score in the second half. The Chippewas are back on the road as they face Toledo in a crucial MAC game that could have major effects later in the year.
