Edge
His latest run in WWE is almost over with only two dates of obligation left on his contract. AEW will never get guys like Cena, Orton, etc… But this is the one guy they can pluck who has the name credibility and can still go in the ring, from the WWE Boom period that would be must watch if placed in the right angle.
Kevin Nash
How many times has this guy told you, “It’s all about the miles and the money”. He is always looking for his next pay day. I’m not sure what his role would be other than a mouthpiece, but I don’t put much past Nash.
Hulk Hogan
If you read the Kevin Nash example, that is all you really need to know for Hogan as well. I could easily see Hogan as the sorely needed “authority figure” that AEW needs. Think about it, every great era of the WWE had an on-screen GM, President, CEO, etc…
I know what you saying, and calm down SMART MARK! I fully realize he was once banned from AEW because of racial comments from his ex-Linda, and clearly the ones that cost him his job with WWE many years ago as well. After WWE took him back AGAIN, a few years ago, they haven’t done much with him.
There are certain all-time legends that AEW will never get including Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Lita, Trish Stratus and The Undertaker, but Hogan is not one of those untouchable ones. Money talks and bans can be lifted.
Jimmy The Mouth of the South Hart
Where Hogan goes, so does Jimmy Mouth of the South Hart. That simple!
Brutus the Barber Beefcake
If Jimmy Hart is going to tag along. You better believe The Barber is going to try to hope on that gravy train.
Ric Flair
This one is a SURE THING! Don’t let the fact that his daughter is wrestling for WWE sway you to believe it cannot happen. He is desperate for money, and if the price is right, he will pack his bag and show up. He did it with TNA, and this product would actually have a chance of succeeding.
Think about who is already there and has been there, his Four Horsemen running mates Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard. Clearly, he wouldn’t be in a wrestling role, but with so much talent and AEW’s love of stables, I can see something happening quickly with Flair upon arrival.
Jerry Lawler
Lawler is extremely expendable when you look at the youth movement at the announce desk for WWE. With the exception of Cole, everyone else is recently Vince created and pushed.
AEW is planning a third hour of Dynamite, along with a possible second show on TBS. Excalibur is awful, so the move to Lawler would be perfect timing. At his stage in his life however, with his current health, I truly think this one would be a one off occurrence where he judges a bikini contest, or something involving women for a cheap pop, as opposed to any long term spot.
Goldberg
Why not? He has shown in the last year that he remains in great shape. He has stated he wants to keep wrestling once or twice a year, and the WWE has no desire to bring him back. This could happen very soon.
Jesse The Body Ventura
A big mouth who hates Vince McMahon. I could see it being a one-off appearance as they do from time to time with Eric Bischoff.
Road Dogg
If Vince McMahon is truly back in charge, any chance of bringing James back as a producer is pretty much toast. At this stage in his life, he will never again be an in ring competitor either, this move wouldn’t shock me. He would be an incredible mouthpiece for a guy like Hook.
Larry Zybsko
He is such a loudmouth, this would be a one off appearance if they ever tour to Minnesota and want to do any mention of the AWA while there.
Mick Foley
He has openly criticized the WWE creative booking many times over the years, and while he is one of those WWE Attitude Era legends you would never guess to appear in AEW, he likes to make money off his name and promote his comedy tour, this could be another one off and massive payday if they ever truly insert a hardcore division into AEW.
Tony Atlas
With the Rocks show on NBC, Tony Atlas has found some new interest as of late. Tony Khan is a huge screaming liberal, and a giant mark for any groundbreaking legacy in wrestling, it could be race, gender, it doesn’t seem to matter, if he can make himself look good, he will trumpet that cause.
