by University Heights, Ohio – The Mount Union Purple Raiders turned in a dominating performance en route to a 49-14 win over host John Carroll at Shula Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Mount Union quarterback Braxton Plunk went 29 of 35 passing for 281 yards and three scores. He also had a rushing touchdowns. Wayne Ruby Jr. had 10 catches for 137 yards and a score. Deandre Parker and Tyler Echeverry each had rushing scores for the Purple Raiders. Strongsville graduate Nick Turner and Ryan Eiden were the recipients of Plunk’s scoring tosses.
John Carroll quarterback Joe Collins went 17 of 26 passing for 241 yards. He tossed a touchdown to Kirtland graduate Joey Torok in the third quarter, and Aurora graduate Evan McVay ran for a touchdown in the first.
