Midview defeats Tallmadge, 53-47

Tallmadge, Ohio – Ryan Rusner scored 19 points to lead visiting Midview to a 53-47 win over host Tallmadge Thursday evening.

The first quarter was evenly matched, ending in a 7-7 tie.

To start off the second quarter, Ryan Eiseman drilled a triple to give the Blue Devils a brief lead. Ryan Rusner would drill a triple for the Middies to respond. They would go on a 9-0 run to lead 16-10.

Tallmadge respond thanks to a basket from Collin Dixon. Ty Hurst would convert a steal and layup and in the blink of an eye, the Middie lead was 16-14.

Ryan Rusner hit three triples in the second, and his fourth put the Middies up 23-20 going into the half.

It was a back-and-forth affair in the third quarter. After a Ty Hurst steal and layup tied the game, the Middies went on an 8-0 run to take a 34-26 lead midway through the quarter.

The Middies held the lead, 37-33 going into the final stanza. They would pad their lead to nine before Tallmadge made one final rally attempt, thanks to the efforts of Ty Hurst. The Blue Devils got to within two, but could get no closer.

Midview got huge free throws from David Moore, Herman Plas, and Marc Reed to hold on for the win.

Midview (4-4) hosts Orange on 1/3 in a non-conference affair. Senior guard Ryan Rusner had 19 points, followed by 12 from Marc Reed, and 10 from Herman Plas.

Tallmadge (3-4) hosts Cuyahoga Falls on 1/3 to continue Suburban League (American Division) play. Senior guard Ty Hurst had 25 points, followed by eight from senior guard Collin Dixon.
