Palmyra, Ohio – The visiting Mentor Cardinals defeated the host Southeast Pirates, 21-3 on Monday evening.
Ava Lee scored 42 seconds in to put the Cardinals in front, 1-0. Ella Predina won the ensuing draw and scored nine seconds later, increasing the Mentor lead to 2-0. After a Sydney Fink goal pushed the lead to 3-0, Southeast got on the board with a goal from Alexandria Hrkach.
Fink responded with her second goal to increase the Mentor lead to 4-1. Goals by Abby Harps, Ava Lee, and Ella Predina made the score 7-1 in favor of the Cardinals after one quarter of play.
But the Cardinals were not done. Lee tacked on a couple more goals, her third with 8:24 left, and fourth with 6:18 left, increasing the Mentor lead to 11-1. Abby Harps scored a second-quarter hat trick, and Riley Corsaro and Ella Predina added goals of their own.
Mentor led 14-2 at the halftime break.
Riley Corsaro added her second goal of the game with 6:04 left in the third. Southeast countered when Claire Dillner scored at the 2:33 mark. Dillner also scored in the second quarter. Ella Predina scored less than a minute later, and Mentor led 16-3 after three.
Emily Bilavcic got in on the scoring with a pair of goals of her own in the final quarter. Sydney Fink added goals three and four, and Abby Harps added her fourth for the final margin.
In total, six different Cardinals found the back of the net Monday evening. Seniors Sydney Fink and Ella Predina, and juniors Ava Lee and Abby Harps each had four goals. Seniors Riley Corsaro and Emily Bilavcic each scored a pair of goals.
Mentor improves to 7-4. They host Brunswick on Wednesday, April 23rd.
