Medina Defeats Stow 42-14 In Season Opener

On Friday night, the Medina Battling Bees were victorious over the Stow-Munroe Falls Bulldogs with a final score of 42-14. The game began with a thrilling double pass from Medina Bees QB Cason Diiulio, which led to a touchdown, but the refs overturned it. Although the play was overturned, it set the tone for the night. The game featured many great plays and passes.

Carson Diiulio, the starting QB for the Medina Bees, threw for around 250 yards and rushed for 30 yards. He delivered many impressive passes, including a touchdown pass, and threw several deep into the hands of his receivers. Despite the tough loss for the Stow Bulldogs, QB Jacob Harrington had a fair night, throwing for about 60 yards and completing two touchdown passes. He also rushed for 62 yards.

Medina’s running backs—Caleb Sherman, Max Meyers, and Cooper Joesfczyk—averaged around 60 running yards each. Despite being a running back, Meyers caught two passes during the game. For Stow, Nick Hosey ran for 67 yards; Caden Boyd ran for 52 yards; and Israel Purkiss ran for 33 yards and made a catch.

Medina’s wide receivers included Sydney Lloyd, who caught four passes and scored a touchdown; Jackson Riffle, who had three carries for about 7 yards; and Brian Wuchter, who had six carries and one catch for 17 yards. The Medina Bees won by a large margin, thanks in part to standout performances from senior Tallen Hulvey, who made two interceptions, including a pick-six.

Kellen Hathaway also made notable plays with two touchdown catches, and Camden Sokolowski scored a touchdown off a remarkable interception. For Stow, wide receiver Daylon Keeling had four catches for over 20 yards. The player of the game for the Stow Bulldogs was senior Nick Hosey, who had a great running night with around 62 yards.

The game thrilled fans with numerous plays and interceptions, especially as Medina Bees converted those turnovers into scoring opportunities.
