On March 3rd, McDonald’s will roll out its biggest burger in company history, the Double Arch Bugger. It has been tested in Europe for the last several months and scored positive results, so they have decided to roll it out in America as well.
The new and improved Arch Burger will feature
Two quarter-pound beef patties
Three slices of white cheddar cheese
Crispy onions
Slivered raw onions
Lettuce
Pickles
Big Arch Sauce. Consisting of mustard, pickle and sweet tomato flavors,”
It will be served on a toasted sesame and poppy seed-coated bun.
This is now their second attempt at such a burger as their original idea back in 1996 didn’t work out so well. The 1990s Arch Deluxe was a high-profile, failed McDonald’s, marketed to adults in 1996 with a “grown-up” taste, featuring a split-top potato bun, smoky bacon, and a mustard-based sauce. Despite a massive $150-$200 million marketing campaign, it flopped due to high costs and consumer preference for traditional menu items.
Despite massive marketing, the burger was too expensive and considered a significant, high-cost product failure. I personally LOVED the original one and hope the best for this one!
