PARMA HTS, OH – Reese Roggenburk and Julia Hall combined for 34 points as the Magnificat Blue Streaks handled the Normandy Invaders 58-23 to capture the District Championship today at Valley Forge. They used a smothering defense to cause double digit turnovers in the first quarter while they jumped out to leads of 9-2, 18-2 and eventually closing out the quarter 25-8.
The Invaders had no answers as things went on and Normandy was held to just 4 points in the second quarter and 2 foul shots in the third as the Blue Streaks built up a 54-14 lead after 3 quarters of action to start the running clock.
Sofia Wilson had the hot hand, finishing with 11 points while Gemma Wichmann had 6 and Sophia LaPorte had two points. Maddie Kowalski had 2 off the bench as did Elise Laporte with 2.
For the Invaders, they were led by the dynamic Ziley Minich with 11 while Kelei Anderson had 3. Olivia Mann looked strong as she finished with 5. It was Rebecca Spadafore finishing with 2 as well. Coming off the bench to score for the Invaders was Sofia Szymczak with 3.
The Magnificat Blue Streaks will next play Wednesday against Strongsville who defeated St. Joes in the night cap 64-41.
