Week one happened this past week for the NCAA football season. Week one is usually when MAC schools travel to power five schools and face an uphill battle. A few MAC teams faced off against lesser or equal opponents, this created a few fun matchups throughout the weekend. This is an overall power ranking that will be done after each week.

  1. Toledo

Toledo had a slow start against Long Island, they found their way in the second half of the game. The offense led by Dequan Finn found their grove thanks to the defense getting a shutout. Toledo remains the number one team.

  1. Central Michigan

CMU challenged Oklahoma State early but struggled to stay with them. CMU closed the gap putting up 44 points on a top team in the big 12. This was fun to watch, they remain in second but could jump them next week.

  1. NIU

NIU walked away with a win against Eastern Illinois, this was a game that was a little closer than what was expected. They remain in third, but they could drop down depending on next week.

  1. Miami OH

Miami had a tough day against Kentucky, a team that outmatched them. This won’t hurt them or help them in the rankings.

  1. Western Michigan

WMU had a tough day against Michigan State due to not having a consistent offensive production. If this offense can take things away from this game, it will help them heavily throughout the year.

  1. Kent State

They had a long plane ride across the country to face on Washington who had a tough season last year. Kent State struggled after many hoped they could compete. They face Oklahoma week two, it could be a rough couple of weeks for the Flashes.

  1. Eastern Michigan

The Eagles had a strong performance putting up 42 points and getting the win off of the arm of Taylor Powell’s three touchdown performance. If they continue to build on this performance a boost in the rankings will be earned.

  1. Ohio

Saturdays win was impressive for the Bobcats against a FAU team that was ahead at half. Ohio has a tough task next week playing against Penn State on the road. This Ohio team showed a lot of fight and week one, I’m looking forward to seeing it live in Happy Valley.

  1. BG

Bowling green gave a better UCLA team fits in the Rose Bowl, the Falcons jumped to a quick lead but failed to hold it as the game progressed. We will be able to measure BG better next week against Eastern Kentucky.

  1. Akron

Akron earned a hard-fought victory to start off the season against St. Francis. The Zips showed glimpses but not much consistency on either side of the ball. Despite the win they stay on the bottom of the rankings for now.

  1. Buffalo

Buffalo was outmatched against a strong Maryland team, it’s hard to predict this team right now after a loss to a power five team. Next week they play Holy Cross hoping to mark down their first win.

  1. Ball State

The Cardinals fell early to the Vols and couldn’t come back resulting in a blowout. No one expected a big game week one, but the loss didn’t help them either.
