MAC Tournament: No. 3 Kent State Knocks off No. 6 Ohio 86-75

Delrecco Gilliespie scored 27 points to lead Kent State past Ohio 86-75 into the semifinals of this years MAC Championship Tournament.  He was aided by Morgan Safford with 24 while Robert Whaley scored 14. Also reaching double digits for the Golden Flashes was Cian Medley with 11.

Ohio was led by Aidan Hadaway with 24 while Javan Simmons scored 22 and Jackson Paveletzke scored 12 as the only 3 Bobcats to reach double digits.  OU was led in rebounds by Hadaway with 7 while Paveletzke led them in assists with 7 while he also went an impressive 8 for 8 at the line.

The stat of the day that hurt the Bobcats in the end was turnovers with 12 while the Golden Flashes only coughed it up 5 times.  The Bobcats actually by four early in this one before falling behind and then never truly gaining control again.  The Golden Flashes took the lead for good midway through the second and even ran the lead out to 15 at one point.

Also hurting Ohio was their inability to hit the three ball, only going 5 of 22 on the night. As mentioned, solid foul shooting, ( 24-32 ) kept them in for quite awhile before the Golden Flashed pulled away.

Kent State now advances to take on number # Akron, tomorrow night at RMF.
