Fairview started off their season on a not so hot note. But, there were a couple bright spots. Even though the Warriors failed to reach the end zone, Quarterback Nate Glanc went 4/8 for 17 yards and also ran for 6. Glanc was under pressure a ton this game but he battled through it and never gave in. He played hard along with two of his running backs. The Longhorns couldn’t get anything else goin on that drive and had to settle for a field goal. From then on, Fairview went three and out, while Lutheran West fumbled on their next drive. At the end of the first quarter the score was 3-0 Lutheran West.

The second quarter saw the games first touchdown. A 6 yard rushing Touchdown from JaMarrion Banks for his first of his Sophomore season. Fairview’s offense stayed stagnant through the quarter. But, their defense was fighting hard and would bend but not break. With only 10 seconds left in the half, Lutheran west had the ball on Fairview’s 48 yard line. Senior Quarterback Clay Noble threw a beautiful ball to fellow Senior Wide Receiver Kelly Conaway. Conaway hauled in the throw and took it to the house for a 48 yard touchdown right before halftime. Lutheran West would head into the locker room with a 17-0 lead.

Coming out of Halftime Fairview had their drive stall early on. Lutheran West then drove down the field but couldn’t convert on fourth down. Fairview got the ball but lost it shortly after on a fumble from their Quarterback Nate Glanc. Lutheran West would capitalize with a field goal. Fairview and Lutheran West wouldn’t score on either of their next possessions.

But on the Longhorns last drive of the quarter they would strike again on another touchdown pass from Quarterback Clay Noble. Junior Wide Receiver Derek Fairley hauled in the 29 yard touchdown with 24 seconds remaining in the quarter. This made the lead 27-0 going into the 4th quarter.

Fairview had a nice little spark to start the 4th quarter with Junior Running back Quinn Bruder picking up a first down. But, after that it was more of the same for the Warriors. Fairview had a bad punt and Lutheran West took over in enemy territory. On the first play of the drive Quarterback Clay Noble had a 23 yard rushing touchdown. This put the Longhorns ahead 34-0. That would end up being the final score in this week one matchup.

The Fairview Warriors will head to Parma High school next week looking for the first win. Lutheran West will look to go 2-0 next week as they take on Kirtland.
