Final – Avon 31 Avon Lake 6
The long-awaited rematch for Avon would occur 309 days later back at home in the Nest of Joe Firment Stadium. That night it was all Ryan Maloy and the Eagles as they took possession of the Silver Rail Trophy with a dominant 31-6 victory at home.
The Eagles had touchdown runs by David Orlando, Mark Steinmetz and Tony Eberhardt as well as a 19-yard touchdown pass from Maloy to Kyle Kudla to put the game away by halftime. It was the third straight season the Eagles won the game by a score of 31-7 or 31-6.

Avon Lake 31 Avon 28
This one night changed my life forever. As I was sitting in the box taking notes for my article, I received a call from WKNR for an update. I informed them that Ryan Maloy and company had led the Eagles on a wild comeback to take the lead at 28-24 after Avon Lake had led big all game. Avon was without stud running back Nick Perusek that night as well.
It was a furious fourth quarter rally by the Eagles to come all the way back from being down big. They scored late fourth quarter to cut the lead to 24-21, then when the Shoremen fumbled the ensuing kickoff, the Eagles scored again to take the 28-24 lead with less than 4 minutes to go.
It looked like Coach Mike Elder had pulled another one out of his hat to keep the multiyear regular season winning streak alive. It was then that Jack Mikolich, Konnor Riggs and the Shoremen decided to change destiny and rewrite history.
Instead of hanging up, WKNR told me to stay on the line and call the action live on air. I proceeded to call the magical two-minute drive as Mikolich led the Shoremen to a thrilling last second win.
Within minutes I had people blowing up my phone saying they heard me on the radio. Meanwhile behind me, Avon Lake Memorial Stadium was a frenzy as fans stormed the field in celebration. It was one of the craziest and most memorable games I have ever been apart of.
After the season I decided to leave the site I was free-lancing for, and instead I was inspired to open up my own company called Kee On Sports. That one night did it!
