Looking Back At WCW Halloween Havoc

1999

This was Vince Russo at his finest, and his worst.  A chaotic card that had they 10 matches with only 3 going into double digit minutes, and one bizarre twist after the other.  For reasons still not explained, Hulk Hogan was told to lay down for Sting in the World Title match, allowing himself to be pinned.

Sting was pissed off and challenged anyone in the locker room to a fight.  This led to Goldberg coming out and squashing the champ in three minutes.  This was during the ill-advised run of Sting as a heel.  It would last less than 60 days as it clearly wasn’t going to work.  Goldberg would be stripped of the title one night later because it wasn’t a title match, but rather a “fight”
