Look For Two Major Heel Turns At NXT War Games

NXT Takeover continues to be the biggest thing WWE does as a company.  While the COVID 19 pandemic has certainly slowed everything the sports world does, NXT seems to have kept their steam going throughout it.

NXT Takeover War Games will be tomorrow night from Orlando, and as usual this WCW throwback Classic of Fall Brawls past, should entertain! Let’s get right to it!

Timothy Thatcher vs Tommaso Ciampa

Just when it seemed that Ciampa was headed for another massive run as a Heel, they turn him face to take on Thatcher.  Not sure how much sense this one makes as they need Ciampa to get his momentum back after getting destroyed by Karion Kross at his last NXT Takeover appearance.

Thatcher ran right through Ciampa in their brief exchange this past Wednesday.  This whole match seems a bit rushed and out of nowhere.

Prediction – Thatcher

Dexter Lumis vs Cameron Grimes

This has been a fun one to watch develop and has given Cameron Grimes a purpose.  I see Lumis as a heavy favorite in this one as I think they will continue to build title contention momentum for him eventually. He hasn’t been pinned in a while but this is a strap match so Grimes could cheat to win.  It will be interesting to see how it plays out and which way they decide to go.

Prediction – Lumis

Leon Ruff vs Johnny Gargano vs Damian Priest for the North American Championship

A part of me see’s Priest as the next Razor Ramon type of character.  Maybe not with the full gimmick and accent, but as a guy they will trust with the secondary title, but never the main title.  Gargano has Shawn Michaels written all over him, but that is not new praise.  The two of them will be a big part of the bright future NXT has.

Oh yeah, then there is the ACTUAL CHAMPION in this match, Leon Ruff.  This whole thing kind of reminds me of some vintage 123 Kid type stuff. If they allow him to hold onto the title much longer, what does that do to the prestige of it?  It is 2020, so who really knows anymore I guess.

Prediction – Damian Priest

The Undisputed Era vs Dunne, Burch, Orcan and McAfee

McAfee has already done a good job of getting people to care about Orcan and Burch, something they weren’t doing before.  Dunne is a wrestling machine and hard not to take serious. This stable has some serious legs and creative is not going to cut the legs out from under them this early by losing.  I fully expect someone in UE to turn on Cole and the entire group costing them the match.

Prediction – McAfee & Co

Team Shotzi vs Team Candice in a War Games Match

There are two schools of thought here.  The first being that a champion will always lose a match they are in if it is non-title.  Basic wrestling 101 tells us that logic.  With that being the case, the addition of Io Shirai to team Shotzi would confirm that.

Why would she team with three women currently wanting her title?  Ripley isn’t cool with losing to her, and Ember Moon has been a force since her return to NXT.  I see Moon and Shotzi staying true to form but I’d keep my eye on Ripley for a turn, costing them the match.

Someone will get a pin on Shirai to win the match.  I do hope this is the last main event Shotzi Blackheart sees for awhile.  I do not like her gimmick and not sure why she is pushed so heavily.

Prediction – Team Candice
