Leviathan Land Major Signing: Atlantic 10 Standout Kelly Janssen Joins Lorain County Attack

Lorain County, Ohio — Lorain County Leviathan FC has secured one of its most significant signings to date, announcing the arrival of Atlantic 10 All-Conference forward Kelly Janssen, a highly regarded attacking talent from the Washington, D.C. collegiate soccer landscape. The move marks another major milestone as the Leviathan continues to establish itself as a national destination for elite players.

At 6-foot-4, Janssen brings an immediate physical presence and proven production to the Leviathan front line. Known for his aerial dominance, physicality, and ability to impact matches in the attacking third, Janssen arrives in Lorain County as a statement signing that strengthens an already ambitious roster.

The addition pairs Janssen with striker Dakota Jonke, creating a rare attacking rotation that could see Leviathan deploy two forwards standing over 6-foot-3 leading the line. The combination gives the coaching staff significant tactical flexibility, allowing the club to play direct, control set pieces, or surround either forward with pace and technical attackers depending on the opponent and match situation.

“This is a stunning signing for our club and a huge get coming out of the Washington, D.C. area,” said Andrew McDonnell, Leviathan leadership. “Players across the country are starting to recognize what we are building here. The Leviathan name is becoming a go-to place for top players who want to compete at a high level in a serious environment.”

Head Coach Blake New emphasized the tactical possibilities created by the growing roster depth.

“While we don’t know who will be in the starting eleven on any given day, there are real options here to go big on both the front line and the back line,” New said. “That flexibility to adjust the lineup and take advantage of matchups is every coach’s dream scenario. Kelly gives us another dimension and allows us to build different looks without sacrificing quality.”

Janssen appeared in 38 collegiate matches at the Atlantic 10 level, scoring 10 goals while steadily increasing his attacking output each season. His experience against top Division I competition adds further quality to a Leviathan squad that continues to attract standout talent from across the United States.

The signing reinforces the club’s rapid rise, as Lorain County Leviathan FC continues to draw high-level players nationwide, combining competitive ambition with a strong community-driven identity at Forefront Field.

Fans will have their first opportunity to see Janssen in Leviathan colors when preseason preparations begin later this spring.
