Legendary St. Ignatius Head Coach Chuck Kyle Announces Retirement

Legendary High School Football Head Coach Chuck Kyle has announced his retirement.  It will be effective following the 2022-2023 school year.  It will be his 50th with the program as he has spent 11 years as an assistant coach, and 39 as a head coach.

Kyle also teaches English and coaches track at the school as well.  He has guided the football program to 11 State Championships as well as coaching several young men who eventually became players and coaches in the NFL.  He is easily the most respected High School Football coach in America, and will be missed after next year.

Following next season, defensive coordinator Ryan Franzinger will become the head coach.

Best of luck to Coach Kyle, a great coach and an even better person!

Been exciting to watch coach Kyle’s teams over the years … especially going back and looking at the 1st couple of championships that were won .. beating Cincinnati Princeton with a incredible goal line stand .. for there 1st to the most recent in 2011 … incredible run .. Absolutely raised the level of competition statewide.. as the years went on ..

  2. I will always cherish the memories of St. Ignatius and Lancaster competing in track meets together. I always loved talking to Coach Kyle. He is such a class act and always had good things to say about his teams as well as the competition. Good luck in your retirement coach!
