The Rangers got off to a fast start with an impressive 15 points coming in the game’s first 9 minutes of action. Already up 6-0 they got a safety to make it 8-0, followed by a touchdown run to extend the lead to 15-0 with 9 minutes left. The first quarter ended by that same score.
The second quarter saw a mild John Marshall comeback when a touchdown run cut the Ranger lead to 15-6 with 10 minutes to go in the first half. The Rangers got the ball back and Avery Holt rolled out to his left and found an open man in the endzone, while passing on the run. It was a bullet to the back of the endzone by Holt that increased the Ranger lead to 22-6.
John Marshalls next drive was halted by an interception from the Rangers, before anything could truly get going for them. The Rangers then put together a nice little drive that resulted in a Holt to Chappell touchdown pass to increase the lead to 29-6.
The Rangers weren’t done yet however, and decided to put the game out of reach by halftime when Avery Holt ran it in himself for a touchdown to increase it to 36-6 late into the second half. Just when it seemed as though we’d go to halftime by that same score, the Rangers struck again. This time it was Holt to Riley Verderber for another touchdown pass to send the Rangers into halftime up 43-6 and the game out of reach.
The Rangers went on to win by the same score.
