Hartville, Ohio – The Lake Blue Streaks bounced back after a couple of tough losses with a 52-37 win over Jackson Friday night.

It was a big conference showdown, with a sellout crowd and both student sections rocking.

After Jackson went ahead 2-0 thanks to a layup, the Lake offense caught fire.

Thanks to the efforts of senior Camden Horning and sophomore Chance Casenhiser, the Blue Streaks led 18-3 after the first quarter.

That, and an air-tight defensive effort held the Polar Bears scoreless throughout the first quarter, save for a late free throw.

Lake led by as much as 23-5 at one point in the second quarter. Their aggressive defense forced several Jackson turnovers and missed shots.

For Jackson, a Kevin James layup with 2:00 left in the second quarter stopped a nearly 13 minute field goal drought that spanned both quarters.

Jackson went on a 7-0 run thanks to conversions at the charity stripe to close out the half. They trailed, 27-17, going into the break.

Senior guard Kevin James had 19 points for the Polar Bears. Thanks to his efforts, Jackson cut their deficit to eight points in the third.

But they could get no closer as Lake countered with scores of their own when needed. Chance Casenhiser had a drive to the hole to end the third, giving Lake a 40-30 lead.

From there, the Blue Streaks would make it stick, and held on for the win, setting off a court-storming celebration from the Lake student section.

Chance Casenhiser had 22 points to lead all scorers. Senior Camden Horning added 13 for the Blue Streaks.

Lake (10-4 overall, 5-3 Federal League) hosts Green in another big conference showdown Tuesday night.

Massillon Jackson (8-5 overall, 5-3 Federal League) hosts Louisville in a non-conference affair Tuesday night.
