Lake Erie Crushers Pitcher JD Hammer has been signed by the Los Angeles Angels

Per Tom Kramig, owner and CEO of the Lake Erie Crushers.

The Lake Erie Crushers, who are presented by Akron Children’s
Hospital, announced today that Crushers Pitcher JD Hammer has been signed by the Los
Angeles Angels organization.

Hammer, who played his college baseball at Marshall University, appeared in 19 games for the
Crushers this season, starting 9 games and posting a 3 and 3 record. Hammer pitched 52 innings,
striking out 46 hitters while walking only 20. Hammer currently holds a three-point-four-six
ERA.

Hammer is the 1st Crushers Player to be signed during 2023. He previously pitched in the major
leagues for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2019 and 2021.

“JD Hammer is an outstanding young man and a tremendous Pitcher”, stated Crushers Manager
Jared Lemieux. “We are thrilled that he will have another opportunity to show what he can do
at the next level. He’s been a great part of our pitching staff and our clubhouse all summer
long.”

The Crushers wrap up their six game homestand Sunday July 30th at Mercy Health Stadium at
2:00 PM. The Crushers return to Avon Tuesday August 8th for a 3 game series to face the
