North Ridgeville senior sensation Grace Kingery led a thrilling second half comeback as the Rangers defeated the visiting Amherst Comets 59-51. Kingery scored 24 of her game high 35 points in the second half after the Rangers trailed 31-21 at the halftime break. Making it even moor impressive is that she sunk 5 from long distance tonight as well as going 10 of 10 from the line.
Senior leadership has been a thing that this Ranger team can hang their hat on and tonight was no different as fellow senior Brooke Lime also stepped up when they needed her the most with 9 second half points and 6 coming in the fourth. Maddie Eldrige was no stranger from the senior scoring with 3 herself while Macie Miller and Reyan Balderas had five each.
Amherst built an impressive 10 point halftime lead based on a very strong performance from Kelley who had 12 of her 24 points in that stretch. Kelley continues to lead the Comets night in and night out as their most prolific scorer. Her running mate in the dynamic duo, Kayla Ferancy chipped in with 8 tonight, but was held to 2 points in the fourth.
Fellow senior Bradyn Silvasy had 7 points while Ava Darmos totaled 4 in the score column. Natalie Pleban continues to be one to watch as she poured in 8 more tonight, including 6 from long range.
The Comets held a 31-21 halftime lead, and then a 39-37 lead after three quarters, until the Rangers and Kingery became red hot to outscore them 22-12 in the final frame.
I didn’t think Anna played today? But, Nazz made some buckets!
Great girls high school basketball game, Grace and her lady rangers fought hard to pull out a victory. Coach Esser great adjustments lead to a SWC victory. Amherst played hard , tough girls on that team . Difference was coaching and Grace . Can’t wait for round 2
