I was able to watch a lot of basketball this past season and quite a few freshmen stuck out.  I didn’t get the chance to see everyone play, but I did see well over 50 teams and for the ones that I did, here are the 9th graders who stuck out the most and I believe will make serious waves next year!

Before we get to the full roster, here is my Starting Five 

Lexi Hall of Berea-Midpark – An absolute star in the making. Can hit from anywhere on the court and provides an instant impact upon checking in.

Lilly SanFilippo of SJA – One of the best pure athletes I have ever covered!  She proved it on the volleyball court and then again on the basketball court.  She has a winning attitude, humble and driven.  Lilly is the REAL DEAL!

Amaya Capps of North Olmsted – She saw her Varsity minutes rise later in the season and stepped up.  Just wait until she enters the rotation from day one.  A scrapper on defense and a shooter on offense, my kind of player!

Izzy Lapp of Padua – Opposing coaches better hope she never finds the weight room, because when she puts on about 5 pounds of muscle, there is no stopping her.  Lapp can do it all and is just getting started folks.  She is a future MVP.

Ari Hueter of Lakewood – Size, speed and skill.  She can score every time she touches it and commands a double team which will get teammates open as well. She is unselfish and works hard, look out for Hueter next year as we are just getting started.
