Iron Sharpens Iron
To be The Man, you have to beat The Man
Nothing worth having comes Easy
When you chase perfection you can reach greatness.
Pick the cliché, and it applies to Olmsted Falls Bulldog Head Coach Jordan Eaton.
This season, with all the pressure on him to defend a State Championship, has perhaps been his best performance ever. Without Paige Kohler, Mia Kalich, Danielle Cameron, Lauren Galaska, Sara Glover, Danielle Stevens, Grace Simon and so many other studs over the years that filled that lineup, Eaton has instilled the work ethic and process to keep the winning going. They can beat you with the three ball, they can beat you with defense and they can beat you with the full court game. This is Coach Jordan Eaton basketball.
Anyone who has ever played for him will tell you the same thing, they will tell you how hard he drives them, how much he demands from them, but at the same time, how much fun he is to play for. Coach Eaton creates basketball families every year, and that is why his teams consistently win. They play for each other, there are no superstars, just a team!
Year after year they win the SWC Championship, seven straight I believe with a CO-Championship in 2020 with Westlake. But it is not just the SWC Play that wins him this award, it is the fact that they don’t schedule out of conference cupcakes, they schedule the very best competition in the state. THAT IS HOW WINNING IS DONE!
Their out of conference schedule this year included Strongsville, Springboro, Brush, Hoban, Red Bank Catholic and Cathedral Prep. That is a murders row folks, but Eaton is a genius to do it! He expects the best out of his players and challenges them. Again, that is how winning is done and teaching is done.
I’ve been covering coach Eaton since I got my start nearly a decade ago and I can count on one hand how many times during a game I’ve seen him yell at a ref or player, he is calm, he is confident and he is the guy who is thinking 5 steps ahead. Look all day on this side of town, and you’re not going to find a better coach then Jordan Eaton. His dominance goes beyond the SWC.
I love the culture built in Olmsted Falls, there is this blue collar feel you get when you are there that is impossible to deny and not fall in love with. I spoke with Olmsted Falls athletic director Rob Coxon who had this to say about Eaton, “Coach Eaton is a dedicated professional leader who excels at teamwork and player development. He is determined and passionate about the basketball program, spending countless hours in the gym, in the weight room, and with season preparations. Additionally, he builds character and is committed to the overall team concept. Coach Eaton is a valued member of our athletic department who supports all of our programs “
