Jon Moxley/ Dean Ambrose Leaving WWE: Biggest Pros and Cons

On May 1st, the wrestling world was sent into a frenzy when former WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose released a short video on his Twitter page. If you haven’t seen this video yet, it’s about two minutes of your time, and if you are a wrestling fan, trust this writer, it is worth it. You can find it at this link: https://twitter.com/JonMoxley/status/1123438186410205184?s=01

However, as exciting as the return of Jon Moxley is, this change is sure to have a huge impact on the wrestling world. In this article, we are going to look at the biggest Pros and Cons for the four biggest categories affected by Jon Moxley going back to the indies. We will be taking a look at what this change means for Jon Moxley himself, WWE, the independent circuit, and finally what this means for wrestling fans.

Jon Moxley

Pro: Creative Freedom

– It has been reported recently that Moxley wasn’t into the hokey things WWE had him do in the past. So, going to the Independent Circuit may do wonders for him from a creative standpoint. WWE has a huge team of writers, and with Raw’s declining ratings, it makes sense why he would want to leave that behind.

Con: Leaving Friends and Family Behind

– Moxley made lots of friends in the WWE, primarily Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. This is the first time any of these three men have been outside of the WWE since the group formed, and while they will most likely keep in touch, thats different from seeing them every week. Not to mention Renee Young, Moxley’s real life wife, is still with the company as a commentator for Raw, so it will probably be pretty lonely on the road.

WWE

Pro: Keeping the Door Open

– Although this is a terrible situation for the WWE, they handled it very well. They left the door open for him to return, they gave him a huge send off, and they seemed to part peacefully. Out of everything WWE could have done here, they made the right call.

Con: Losing A Top Star

– Aside from Chris Jericho, Moxley is the biggest star to leave the WWE in recent times. As a side effect, Moxley leaving has also given hope to many other people who want to leave WWE, such as The Revival, Luke Harper, and Sasha Banks, which can only get worse for the WWE.

The Indies

Pro: Indy Wrestling is Cool

– With WWE’s current ratings drop, many people think that pro wrestling is at a low point. However, it can be argued that Indy Wrestling is on the rise again. With AEW coming soon, alpng with other huge companies like New Japan Pro Wrestling, IMPACT Wrestling, and Ring of Honor being on the rise, any Indy company can benefit from such a huge star.

Con: Harder for Indy Newcomers

-It is really difficult to make a name for yourself in the wrestling business, given all the talent involved. Moxley adding his name to the mix, along with stars like Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, and many more, the Indy Scene is set to get very crowded.

The Fans

Pro: A New, Edgy Character

-This new hype video certainly did it’s job. It got the wrestling world buzzing and excited. Wrestling may not be as popular as it was in the late 90’s, but big things seem to be on the horizon, so we should get excited.

Con: We May Not See Him Too Much

-This last point all depends on where he goes. WWE is the most readily available source of pro wrestling available, and not everybody may have access to smaller networks for the other wrestling companies. Hopefully Moxley gets a chance to shine on a big stage.
