Cleveland, Ohio – The John Marshall Lawyers defeated visiting Beachwood, 32-7, on Saturday afternoon.
The Bison got things started with a fumble recovery on the opening kickoff. However, the offense could not take advantage. A bad snap on fourth down would give John Marshall great field position.
However, Beachwood came up with a defensive stop of their own, and a Jovon Kirby interception in the end zone gave the Bison the ball back.
However, the Lawyers would come up with a huge play of their own on defense. Senior Thiotis Green picked off a pass and made the short sprint to the end zone from 29 yards out. This put John Marshall up 6-0 with 5:39 left in the first quarter.
A short time later, the Lawyers added six more, when senior quarterback Jermaine Stennies found Emere Atkins for a 57-yard touchdown reception. This increased the lead to 12-0 with 1:09 left in the first.
In the second, the Lawyers looked to add to their lead, but an incomplete pass thwarted those chances. The score would remain at 12-0 going into the halftime break.
Freshman running back Jaylan Salmon took it in from a yard out to increase the Lawyer lead to 18-0 early in the third quarter.
Beachwood finally got on the board on the ensuing drive, taking advantage of a roughing the kicker penalty. Senior Jaymon Caldwell took a handoff and went 57 yards to paydirt. However, he was injured on the play and sat the remainder of the game.
Senior two-way player Thiotis Green added a rushing touchdown from 20 yards out, and after a successful two-point conversion, the Lawyers led 26-7 late in the third.
After a goal line stand of their own, Stennies found Ashawn Palmer for an 89-yard touchdown reception for the final margin in the fourth.

Beachwood (1-1) travels to Kirtland next Friday night.
