Joey B for MVP?

The Bengals want a bounce-back season after a disappointing 2023 season. Still, if the Bengals want the 2024-2025 season to be a success, it relies heavily on the man who commands the offense for the Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow.

Joe Burrow, 27, is looking to recover from an injury-plagued season for himself and the Bengals. Burrow had to miss 10 games during the 2023 season due to injury, but reports have shown that he has had a great offseason and is looking to have an MVP-like season this year and lead the Bengals back to the Super Bowl. According to Geoff Hobson, Senior Writer for the Cincinnati Bengals official website, He is showing improvements in terms of putting on muscle mass over the offseason. in that same article, Mike Gesicki commented “That might hurt your hands” when talking about a pass from Burrow. Wide receiver Trenton Irwin also commented: “He looked like he did last year. He looked smooth. I didn’t see anything different.” These quotes make the fans of Cincinnati hopeful we will see the Joe Burrow that we know again on the field.

Burrow has a chance to do something this year that he has not done yet in his career: win an MVP. Joe Burrow is currently a top 3 quarterback in the league right up there with Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. According to Pro Football Reference, in 52 career games, Burrow has 14,083 passing yards with 97 touchdowns with a 68.0% completion percentage, which makes him the NFL’s all-time leader in career completion percentage. His best year came during the 2022 season throwing for 4,475 yards and a career-high 35 touchdowns where he finished 4th in the MVP race.

With the weapons that the Cincinnati Bengals have surrounded Joe Burrow with, including a top 3 wide receiver in Ja’Marr Chase and another veteran and valuable receiver Tee Higgins, Burrow is poised to make a run for the MVP. The Bengals also beefed up the offensive line to protect Burrow from another injury-riddled season by drafting Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims and also signing veteran offensive tackle Trent Brown in the offseason.

I truly believe that if Joe Burrow can pass for 5,000 yards and 45 touchdowns, the Cincinnati Bengals will be a top team in the league again in a position for a strong playoff run. He had potential with his 2022 season and Super Bowl run, but I believe that Joe Burrow will get the Bengals winning by playing well, ultimately leading to an MVP trophy at the end of the season.
