Jake Moody made 4 Field Goals, 3 of which coming in the fourth quarter to help Michigan avoid a major upset at home to Illionois this afternoon. Moody’s last kick was a chip shot 35 yarder to send the Wolverines to 11-0 on the season.

The Wolverines will look to stay hot next week as they travel to Columbus for the big one against Ohio State who is also currently undefeated and about to kickoff at Maryland.

Moodys’ kicks were part of a 19-17 victory against Illinois who had silenced the Wolverines most of the afternoon.  The only non-kicking points from Michigan came on a first quarter 2-yard touchdown run from Blake Corum.

On the day, Corum ran for 108 yards on 18 carries with the score.  Duel threat quarterback JJ McCarthy went for 18 yards on the ground on 7 carries with 207 yards passing as well.  Backup running back CJ Stokes carried the ball 11 times for just 36 yards.

Illionois was able to build a 17 – 10 fourth quarter lead thanks to the legs of Chase Brown who went for 140 yards on 29 carries with two touchdowns.

For Michigan, they stopped Brown when in counted, late in the fourth quarter when they badly needed the ball back to get a chance at a last second score, and they did just that!

Over 100,00 fans packed a frozen “Big House” for this one!
