With the Browns quarterback room unsettled, and no one other than Josh Dobbs looking impressive in pre-season, it may be time to offer a tryout to Northeast Ohio High School Football legend Dustin Crum. Crum played at Midview and then went on to lead the Kent State Golden Flashes.
The Chiefs signed Crum as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State following the 2022 NFL Draft. His final season with Kent was historic as he shattered the school record for passing yards and earning MAC MVP honors. On Saturday, the Chiefs announced that they waived Crum.
Crum is a homegrown hard worker who would bring the blue collar work ethic, and field vision the Browns need in their quarterback room right now. Josh Rosen is known to have attitude problems and Jacoby Brissett is a journeyman backup. Why not give the kid a shot?
I realize it was High School, but he was the greatest talent I have ever seen play the position at that level. Thats no knock-on Medina QB Drew Allar who will be playing on Sundays one day as well. There was just something special about Crum. He has football in his blood!
He started the last twelve games of his junior season and passed for 2,625 yards and 20 touchdowns against 2 interceptions while also rushing for 707 yards and 6 touchdowns. Crum was named the MVP of the 2019 Frisco Bowl after passing for 289 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for a career-high 147 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries in the first bowl victory in Kent State’s history.
He was named first team All-Mid-American Conference (MAC) as a senior after passing 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns over four games during the team’s COVID-19-shortened 2020 season. In his final season at Kent State, he was named the MAC Most Valuable Player after passing for 3,187 yards with 20 touchdowns and six interceptions rushing for 703 yards and 12 touchdowns on 161 carries.
He graduated from Midview in 2016 as one of the greatest throwing talents to ever come out of Northeast Ohio. As a senior he completed 173 of 279 passes for 2,615 yards and 32 touchdowns while also rushing for 1,557 yards and 14 touchdowns and was named Division II All-Ohio First Team and a finalist for Mr. Ohio Football.
It is time to bring the young man home to Northeast Ohio.

That would be great
Absolutely! Great young man and family. It’s time the Browns went for a do the job QB. Has a community behind him who would be in the stadium seats.
The Browns could use some “Dusty Football”. He is our hometown hero of late and we would love to see him share his talents with the nation
Couldn’t hurt you never know he might be another Brian Sipe Browns should try him
