The Cleveland Browns are in desperate need of a number one receiving threat for whomever will be under center this coming season. Two dangerous free agent veterans remain at the top of their wish list with Keenan Allen and Amari Cooper.
Keenan Allen had 70 catches for 744 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2024 while Amari Cooper recorded 44 catches for 547 yards in 2024. However, the driving factor behind bringing Cooper back to Cleveland was the remarkable 2023 season he had with the team when he caught 72 balls for 1,250 yards with 5 touchdowns. The bulk of that damager came with Joe Flacco under center. With Flacco being the frontrunner to start this season at quarterback, it only makes sense for Cooper to return and capture some of that magic.
Their current number one wideout option is Jerry Jeudy who had 90 catches for 1,229 yards and 4 touchdowns in his only season as a Cleveland Brown. However, one must point out that the majority of that production came after Cooper was traded away in Week 7.
Imagine a lineup that includes Cooper, Jeudy and David Njoku heading out to get open for passes? With Elijah Moore signing elsewhere and David Bell injury prone, the Browns need another threat to lineup at wideout. Perhaps Cedric Tillman can continue to evolve, but with the Browns not drafting any wide receiver last month, it may be time to spend the money on Cooper or Keenan Allen.
